We want to help, in some small way, to breathe life into the tradition of Japanese craftsmanship by connecting people to our products. Our chief artisan’s family has been making knives for centuries and samurai swords before that. There is something special about things that are made by human hands, repeatedly over time. 

Mayuko, co-founder, is from Shimane prefecture, an area known for its steel and blacksmithing. Mayuko’s relationships with makers in her hometown was the seed of our business. Once she started introducing Ali to the local goods, especially those knives, an idea was born! 

Today, we work with artisans to leverage their traditional ways of creating beautiful products, while using materials and design in-step with modern homes, Our business is built on sharing our love of Japanese things, created to last, with our friends and family in far-flung places (including Tokyo).
